Before being able to approach potential buyers, multiple aspects have to be analyzed, to be put in order or prepared in a proper manner, according to expectations that we know from many due diligence processes that we experienced.
From a consulting perspective, in almost all cases we start by answering some general sellers’ questions like: how much is my business worth, am I ready or is it the right moment to sell, what does the selling process look like, what exit plans do you recommend, how should we structure a deal, how complex is a due diligence process, what ricks may I encounter, who will help me through all this journey. After an initial coaching session and after we get to know better the shareholders, the business and the motivation behind an M&A deal, we define our collaboration goals and start to build a plan and the strategy to meet our targets.
